The Fun Doesn’t Stop When The Snow Has Melted!

The summer sun brings lots of opportunities for adventure in Serre Chevalier. Many of the ski lifts are adapted to take you and your mountain bike to the higher parts of the resort, and once you arrive at the top you’ll be able to admire the magnificent scenery without stopping to catch your breath. Of course, there are well marked trails for those who prefer to stay in the saddle and find their own way around.

The Guisane and Durance rivers are great places for white-water rafting, kayaking and canoeing, with many professional companies offering courses for all age groups. The more secluded stretches of water welcome fishermen and walkers, who can relax in the shade or stroll amongst the wild flowers.

There’s a network of static cables known as ‘Via Ferrata’ which allow properly equipped novice climbers to explore cliffs and summits in safety. Some climbs even provide a
zip-wire for a breathtaking descent between two fixed points; often high above the valley floor.

If Serre Chevalier’s peaks aren’t quite high enough for you, take a course in paragliding and soar silently on the warm air rising from the Guisane valley. Further afield, towards Gap, there’s also an aerodrome where you can try your hand at conventional gliding or powered flight.

However you spend your day, La Sapinière will be there to welcome you when the sun’s gone down.
